With NCAA team competition having come to a close, the Trojans turn to NCAA Individual action this week in Orlando, Fla. with three Trojans lined up to make NCAA singles and doubles championship runs. USC has Stefan Dostanic and Peter Makk locked in for the NCAA Singles draw, while Dostanic and Bradley Frye are in the mix for NCAA Doubles.
Action begins tomorrow with Dostanic set to face No. 8 seed Ondrej Styler (Michigan) at 3 PM EST/12 PM PT. Dostanic fell to Styler just two weeks ago during the NCAA Super Regional. Sophomore Makk will play Virginia’s Chris Rodesch (9-16 seed) at 6 p.m. EST/ 3 p.m. PT on Monday.
No. 32 Dostanic carries a 19-16 overall singles record this season, going 14-10 in dual action. The senior reached a career best singles ranking at the beginning of the 2022-23 season, debuting at No. 1 back in August. In Pac-12 singles action, the senior went 7-4. Throughout the year, Dostanic has beaten ten ranked opponents, including four in the top-25. This season, the Southern California native played at center court in every dual match during which he appeared.
No. 48 Makk, meanwhile, grips a nice record of his own as a sophomore entering his second NCAA championship. At 27-12 overall, Makk leads the Trojans in overall singles wins this season (18-5 in duals), while also clinching seven matches for Troy.
USC’s top doubles duo – No. 11 Dostanic and Frye – carry a 12-9 overall record in NCAA play. They’ve ranked as high as No. 2 back in September of 2022. The duo will make their second consecutive trip into NCAA Individual action, earning the Pac-12 automatic qualification. The duo will face Florida’s William Grant and Axel Nefve (5-8 seed) to open doubles play on Tuesday.
ABOUT NCAA SINGLES AND DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIPS
The singles and doubles competition will be conducted May 22-27 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, after the conclusion of the team championship, which runs from May 18-20.
