OJAI, Calif. – Arizona Women’s Tennis completed their run in the Pac-12 Championship tournament this afternoon with a 0-4 loss to #3 Stanford.
The Cats dropped the doubles point with losses on courts one and two. Stanford’s #20 Connie Ma and Alexandra Yepifanova defeated #30 Reece Carter and Brandelyn Fulgenzi 6-4, followed by a 6-4 win on court two from Angelica Blake and Alexis Blokhina over Belen Nevenhoven and Martyna Ostrzygalo. Court three played out and finished with a 6-4 win from Stanford’s Katherine Hui and Valencia Xu over Kayla Wilkins and Teja Tirunelveli.
Moving on to singles competition, the Cats stood their ground with first set dominations from Fulgenzi (6-0) over Hui and Ostrzygalo (6-1) over #30 Yepifanova. Stanford took the win on four, with #121 Blokhina taking down Midori Castillo-Meza. Court one finished next with a straight-set 6-3, 6-3 victory from #34 Blake over #111 Carter. Xu clinched the match for the Cardinal with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Tanvi Narendran.
Arizona awaits the NCAA Championships selection show on Monday, April 29.
