Box Score COLLEGE PARK, MD- The sixth seed Maryland Terrapins lost to 11th seed Nebraska 4-2 in the second round of the 2024 Big Ten Women’s Tennis Tournament on Thursday.
Nebraska opened the match by taking the No. 1 doubles match 6-4. Nebraska then followed that with a 6-3 win in the No. 3 doubles match to clinch the doubles point and a 1-0 lead.
Kallista Liu would open scoring for the Terps, taking a strong 6-3, 6-1 win in the No. 3 singles match tying the match at 1-1. Maria Budin followed, winning a hard eanred 7-5, 7-5 No. 4 singles match to push the Terps ahead 2-1.
Diya Challa put up a strong effort in a three set battle but fell short with Nebraska taking the No. 5 singles match and tying things up at 2-2.
Nebraska then took the No. 6 singles match to push ahead 3-2.
In the clinching match, Minorka Miranda put up a good fight over three sets but Nebraska would ultimately take the No. 2 singles match to clinch the win.
