Men’s Tennis Named ITA All-Academic Team – University of South Carolina Athletics

Columbia, S.C. – For the twelfth-straight season, South Carolina men’s tennis has been named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team. Six Gamecocks were also named ITA Scholar-Athletes, marking the fifth time in six years that South Carolina has had four or more players earn the accolade.

Graduates Jake Beasley and Raphael Lambling joined an elite group of Gamecocks, becoming two of just six players in program history earn the Scholar-Athlete honor four times in their respective careers.

The pair of graduates were joined on the Scholar-Athlete list by junior Connor Thomson, who is now a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete.

The Gamecocks also placed three on the Scholar-Athlete list for the first time in their careers – juniors James Story, Toby Samuel and freshman Jelani Sarr.

To be named a Scholar-Athlete, players must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form. The team’s twelfth consecutive All-Academic team honor was achieved by the team having a GPA above 3.2 for the current academic year.
