Virginia Men's Tennis | Virginia Hosts NCAA Regional Matches Friday and Saturday

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  The Virginia men’s tennis team (22-5) opens play at the 2024 NCAA Men’s Tennis Team Championship by hosting the Charlottesville Regional Friday and Saturday, May 3-4, at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort.

Admission is free for the matches.

The matches are scheduled to be played outdoors. Please monitor Virginia’s social media accounts for any weather-related changes.

FRIDAY, MAY 3 (MEN)
1 p.m.       VCU vs Princeton
4 p.m.       (3) VIRGINIA vs NJIT

SATURDAY, MAY 4 (WOMEN)
10 a.m.     Princeton vs. Washington
1 p.m.       (5) VIRGINIA vs. LIU

SATURDAY, MAY 4 (MEN)
4 p.m.       Second Round Match

SUNDAY, MAY 5 (WOMEN)
1 p.m.       Second Round Match

MATCH INFORMATION

  • The matches will be covered in the Cracked Racquets Cross Court Cast on their YouTube Channel
  • Individual court streams will also be available on VirginiaSports.com
  • Live scoring will be available for all of the matches
  • The winner of the Charlottesville Regional will face the winner of the Raleigh Regional (NC State, South Carolina, Old Dominion, UNCW)

NOTING THE CAVALIERS

  • Virginia is ranked No. 2 in the latest ITA team rankings, but are the 3-seed in the championship
  • Senior Alex Kiefer enters the tournament on a 13-match win streak in singles. He has a 22-10 record overall and is 10-3 at No. 5
  • Dylan Dietrich was named the ACC Freshman of the Year, the seventh player in program history to earn the honor
  • Dietrich brings a 7-match win streak in singles into the tournament with a 19-5 record. He is 6-1 this season at the No. 3 singles court. He earned a place in the NCAA Singles draw
  • Senior Jeffrey von der Schulenburg leads the team in singles victories with a 24-14 record. He tied for the team lead in victories last season with 31
  • von der Schulenburg is the first alternate in the NCAA Singles Championship, looking to make his fourth appearance in the tournament. Should a player withdraw and he moves into the draw, he will be the only player on the team to have made four appearances in the NCAA singles tournament
  • Chris Rodesch is the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Singles Championship with a 21-4 record. It is his second straight year being a seeded player in the draw after being a 9-16 seed last season. He is ranked No. 3 in the latest ITA Singles rankings
  • Senior Iñaki Montes has earned invitations to both the NCAA Singles and Doubles…
