The Illini also played Kentucky on Jan. 20 following the Toledo match, but Illinois lost to the Wildcats, 4-3

The win in January put the Illini up 5-0 over Toledo all-time. The first meeting dates back to 1965 in Chapel Hill, N.C., where Illinois won, 6-3. The next meeting between the two teams did not happen again until 2008, with the Illini picking up a 6-1 victory.
