McKenna Schaefbauer | So., Women’s Tennis | Major: Political Science

McKenna Schaefbauer turned in a standout effort at the Big Ten Women’s Tennis Championship at the Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor, Mich., leading the Fighting Illini into the quarterfinals for the 16th time dating back to 2008. In Illinois’ 4-1 win over Rutgers in Round 1, Schaefbauer clinched the match with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles. The win marked her first time clinching a match for the Orange and Blue and pushed her record to 17-9 overall, including a 14-6 mark in dual matches. In Friday’s quarterfinal match vs. No. 4 seed Wisconsin, Schaefbauer worked with doubles partner Kasia Treiber to earn a 6-1 win, improving to 10-2 overall and in duals with an 8-2 record at No. 3 doubles. 

Schaefbauer is a sophomore from Normal, Ill., studying political science and has a 3.92 GPA.
