Dahlstrom, Dudeney Reach Singles Finals at Freeman Memorial

LAS VEGAS – Florida placed two in the singles finals in their respective draws and earned three singles wins on day two of the Freeman Memorial at the campus of UNLV on Saturday.
 
Junior Sara Dahlstrom earned her first ranked-singles win of the season over No. 108 Alana Wolfberg from Oklahoma State to clinch her spot in the final. Despite losing the first set, the native of Sweden returned with back-to-back set wins. Dahlstrom will face another member from the Cowgirls in Ayumi Miyamoto on Sunday in the final.
 
Another singles final was reached by Alicia Dudeney. Dudeney secured a straight-set victory, 6-2, 7-5 to breeze by Valencia Xu from Stanford. The sophomore squares off with her second ranked-opponent of the tournament, No. 21 Savannah Broadus of Pepperdine in her final.
 
Sophie Williams bounced back in her consolation draw, as she sealed her victory in three sets against UNLV’s Nina Zdravkovic, 6-3, 6-7, 6-0.
 
Doubles play was started, but were postponed because of rain. The matches will resume on Sunday and will conclude doubles play for the tournament.
