North Carolina women’s tennis has put together the most dominate run ever seen at the annual ITA National Team Indoor Championships. Holders of the last three trophies and winners of six tournaments since 2013, the second-ranked Tar Heels have drawn Pepperdine in Friday’s opening round at the Seattle Tennis Club at 9:30 p.m. ET.
Matches will be played at both the Seattle Tennis Club and Nordstrom Tennis Center on the University of Washington campus.
There will be live scoring provided by Tennis Ticker and can be accessed through the Tennis Ticker App (available for free on your smartphone or tablet) or by accessing the event page on the ITA website. All courts at Nordstrom Tennis Center will have live streaming through PlaySight. All courts at Seattle Tennis Club will have live streaming through Track Tennis.
The Tar Heels have won indoor titles in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020, 2021 and last year in 2022. Making its eighth straight appearance in the championship match, No. 2 North Carolina joins Stanford as the only programs to ever win three straight ITA Indoor titles. The Cardinal won three of its record 10 titles between 2004-06.
UNC is 4-1 against Pepperdine all-time, holding a 2-1 record against The Wave in the ITA Indoor Championships. In 2018, Carolina defeated Pepperdine 4-2 to claim the ITA Indoor National Championship, and in 2021 knocked down The Wave 4-1 in the ITA Indoor Semifinals. Pepperdine’s lone win came over the Heels in the 2021 NCAA Semifinals, 3-4. The Tar Heels knocked off Pepperdine, 4-3, in last year’s NCAA Championships 4-3 in Champaign, Ill.
