No. 11 USC Women’s Tennis Downs Washington Huskies 4-0 During Pac-12 Quarterfinals

OJAI – The No. 11 ranked USC Women’s Tennis team picked up their first win of the postseason on Thursday, April 25 as the Trojans defeating Washington 4-0 to advance to tomorrow’s Pac-12 Championship Tournament Semifinals. 
 
Earning the No. 3 seed in the Pac-12 Championship Tournament, USC now advances to tomorrow’s semifinal match to face No. 2 seed Stanford at 3 p.m. PT at the Weil Tennis Academy. 
 
USC claimed the doubles point following wins on courts two and three. The Trojans switched up their usual lineup on Thursday, with Emma Charney and Snow Han teaming up on court three to take down their Husky opponents Melissa Sakar and Catherine Gagnon 6-1. On center court, USC’s Eryn Cayetano and Lily Fairclough fell to the Washington pair of Olsen and Jacobs 6-4 to leave the doubles point up for grabs on court two. USC’s No. 69 ranked duo of Parker Fry and Grace Piper would ultimately clinch the early point 7-5, downing UW’s Matsuda and Detkovskaya. 
 
Carrying a one-point lead into singles play, Trojan Grace Piper would help extend the Women of Troy’s lead, finishing first on court four as she beat No. 105 Olsen 6-3, 6-2. USC fifth-year No. 96 Eryn Cayetano powered past her Husky opponent on court four as she’d down Gagnon 6-4, 7-5. Cayetano erased a four-point deficit, down 1-5 early in the second set to win her match and put the Trojans within one point of a team victory. 
 
The match was won on court two as No. 30 ranked Emma Charney downed No. 99 Jacobs 6-4, 7-6(6), sending the Trojans through to the Pac-12 Championship Tournament Semifinals.
