Tennis Tripped Up By Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Rutgers tennis team (4-1) fell to Yale on Saturday afternoon in a close 4-3 decision.  

Despite the outcome, the Scarlet Knights finished strong, battling back in the final three singles matches in three sets to earn three points.  

The Scarlet Knights split their road opener this weekend, after defeating Army, 5-2, Friday evening.

Doubles 

Yale claimed the doubles point to start the match, winning the first two courts. The doubles point marks the first RU has dropped this spring.  

Singles 

The Bulldogs went onto earn victories at the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5 lineup spots to clinch the match win.

However, Tara Chilton battled back after dropping the second set to get her team on the boards with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 victory. Amira Badawi and Minchae Kim also beat their opponents to 10 points in the tiebreaker after falling in their respective first sets.

4. Amira Badawi (RU) def. Vivian Cheng (YALE) 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 

5. Sophia Zaslow (YALE) def. Chloe Brown (RU) 6-3, 6-3 

6. Minchae Kim (RU) def. Jamie Kim (YALE) 4-6, 7-5, 10-8
