BJK Finals Adopt Knockout Format

The International Tennis Federation announced today the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup finals will be staged over nine days and will replace the round-robin group stage with a knockout format which follows Davis Cup’s Final 8 format.

The 2024 Billie Jean King Cup Finals are set for Cartuja Stadium in Seville, Spain November 12-20th.

The revised format and moving the BJK Cup Finals one week later this season compared with previous years is due to “an extended WTA calendar and, based on feedback from players, captains, fans and broadcasters,” the ITF announced.

Under the new structure, eight teams will begin in round one, with the four seeded teams receiving byes into the quarterfinals.

Round one ties will be held from Tuesday, November 12 to Thursday. November 14, followed by quarterfinals on November 15-17 November and semifinals on November 18-19, with the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup final to be played on Wednesday, November 20.

The schedule shift nearly aligns Billie Jean King Cup with Davis Cup.

The Billie Jean King Cup second semifinal and the final will be played November 19-20, with the Davis Cup Final 8 in Malaga following from November 19-24.

The draws for the BJK Cup Finals and Playoffs will take place on Tuesday, April 30 at 12:00 BST (11:00 GMT) at the ITF offices in London.

Conchita Martinez returns as BJK Cup tournament director following her successful debut in that role last year.

Canada is reigning BJK Cup champion.
