Argyrokastriti Named Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year


TEMPE, Ariz.— A two-time member of the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll, senior Marianna Argyrokastriti was named the 2024 Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year, the conference announced on Thursday morning.

The Athens, Greece native is the program’s second Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, with Jacqueline Cako claiming the accolade in 2013.

In order to be eligible for the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, student-athletes must be a senior (in athletics eligibility) on track to receive a degree, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher, participate in at least 50 percent of the scheduled contests in the sport and have a minimum one year in residence at the institution. 

Argyrokastriti has been member of the Sun Devils since her first season with the Sun Devils in 2020-21, when she led the team with 14 singles wins throughout her freshman year and was named an ITA Scholar Athlete.

In her sophomore year, Argyrokastriti went 3-0 at the Pac-12 Championships as the Sun Devils advanced to the final for the first time in program history. She was named to the Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll for the first time and was named an ITA Scholar Athlete for the second year in a row.

She capped off her junior year where she once again led the team in singles with 18 and earned Second Team All-Conference honors. For her academic achievements, she was named to the

to the CSC Academic All-America First Team, Pac-12 Academic Spring Honor Roll and as an ITA Scholar Athlete. Additionally, she was one of eight Sun Devils named a High Academic Achiever. 

Argyrokastriti will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Business (Communication) next month and has achieved a 4.00 GPA throughout her time as a Sun Devil.

Argyrokastriti and the fifth-seeded Sun Devils are currently competing at the Pac-12 Championship at Weil Tennis Academy in Ojai.
