Alsola Advances To All-American Singles Final

Jessica Alsola won three matches and earned an early bye en route to Sunday’s final.


CARY, N.C. – Cal women’s tennis sophomore Jessica Alsola won in straight sets on Saturday to advance to the consolation singles final at the ITA All-American Championships. But the Golden Bear duo of Alsola and Katja Wiersholm lost in the consolation doubles semifinals to end their run at Cary Tennis Park.
 
In her morning match, Alsola, ranked 50th, defeated Michigan’s 125th-ranked Julia Fliegner, 6-4, 6-3. Alsola faces San Diego’s 34th-ranked Solymar Colling in the final on Sunday at 10 a.m. ET.
 
The Cal sophomore returned to the courts in the afternoon, but Alsola and Wiersholm fell to Auburn’s Carolyn Ansari and Arian Arsenault, 6-3, 6-4.
 
The ITA All-American Championships conclude on Sunday.
