Lady Vols Earn No. 16 Seed, Selected as Regional Host


KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee women’s tennis team garnered an NCAA Regional hosting spot for the second straight year, claiming the No. 16 overall seed. 

The Lady Vols (18-7, 9-4) will host the First and Second Rounds of the NCAA Team Championship for the ninth time in program history. This is the fourth time Tennessee has hosted the opening rounds in back-to-back years, alongside 2001-2002, 2002-2003, 2009-2010 and now 2023-2024.

“Our team is excited to be hosting the first two rounds of the tournament again,” head coach Alison Ojeda said. “Our squad has worked really hard and they have earned the opportunity to compete at home on Rocky Top!”

The Lady Volunteers will square off with Murray State (17-5) in the first round of the tournament. Also heading to the Knoxville Regional are Duke (15-9) and ETSU (17-7).

The First Round matches are scheduled to take place on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET with No. 21 Duke and No. 63 ETSU squaring off in the first match, followed by No. 16 Tennessee and Murray State. The lone Second Round match will begin at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Weekend Schedule:

Saturday, May 4

Match 1 – Duke vs. ETSU – 10 a.m. ET

Match 2 – Tennessee vs. Murray State – 1 p.m. ET

Sunday, May 5

Match 3 – Winner of Match 1 vs. Winner of Match 2 – 1 p.m. ET

All matches are scheduled to be played outdoors at Barksdale Stadium. Tickets for the weekend can be found HERE
