Women's tennis heads south to open up 2025 season


Madison, Wis. – The Wisconsin women’s tennis team is set to kick off their spring season on the road at the UT Invitational, hosted by the University of Texas. The tournament will take place at the Texas Tennis Center from Friday, January 10, through Sunday, January 12.

The Badgers enter the spring with momentum, aiming to build on a promising fall season led by standout Maria Sholokhova. Sholokhova has risen to No. 3 in the nation in the ITA singles rankings and is also ranked No. 8 in doubles alongside her partner, Alina Mukhortova. Additionally, senior Taylor Cataldi was named to the 2025 Big Ten Women’s Tennis Players to Watch List, adding further depth and leadership to the team.

The University of Texas poses a formidable challenge, boasting four players ranked in the ITA Top 100 singles rankings, including Carmen Andreea Herea at No. 28.
