SEATTLE – Husky Head Coach Rahim Esmail announced the signing today of standout junior player Rohan Belday from West Orange, New Jersey. Belday will join the Huskies in the fall of 2024.

“We are really excited to have Rohan join our program this fall,” said Esmail. “Rohan is extremely committed to growing his game and wants to play at the highest level possible. Rohan’s level of commitment to getting better and his character are two things that stood out to us during the recruiting process. Rohan also has a game that I feel has a ton of room to grow. Rohan has already had a lot of success as a junior, being ranked top-150 in the world, as well as being a 5-star recruit, but I feel that he is still very raw in terms of how much his game can develop – there is a lot of room to grow and we are looking forward to getting on court with Rohan this fall and getting right to work.”

Belday has a career-high junior ITF ranking of No. 131, and he is a five-star recruit on TennisRecruiting.net. He has been ranked as high as 64th in the current class of seniors on TennisRecruiting.net.

“I chose UW because of its incredible academic and athletic culture,” said Belday. “Playing for the Dawgs under such a supportive coaching staff alongside my amazing teammates will undoubtedly help me achieve both my tennis and academic goals. Go Huskies!”

Belday will fit well with the Husky team culture, according to Esmail. “Rohan is very respected and well-liked by his peers and coaches who have worked with him in the past – this is obviously very important in a team environment when trying to continue to build on a positive culture. Rohan fits right in with what we are continuing to build upon here and I am confident that Rohan will have an immediate positive impact within our program.”
