Men’s Tennis’ Season Ends with Loss to #12 Harvard


CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Arizona State men’s tennis team’s season came to an end Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 shutout at the hands of NCAA Regional host No. 12 Harvard. ASU ends the year with a 14-12 (2-6 Pac-12) record, and this concludes the fourth NCAA Team Tournament trip under head coach Matt Hill.

NCAA Singles Championship Up Next
No. 42 Murphy Cassone earned a bid into the NCAA Singles Championship and starts his run May 22 at 10:00 a.m. local against North Carolina’s No. 40 Brian Cernoch at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
 
Cassone, a sophomore, is ranked 37th in the country. He is 18-6 (8-2 Pac-12) in singles play and has a 3.2 ITF World Tennis Number, while Cernoch is 11-12 (3-7 ACC) and has a 3.7 ITF WTN. Last season Cassone made the NCAA Tournament after dominating the west coach, but took an opening-round loss to Ohio State’s Matej Vocel.
