KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Francesca Mattioli is officially the newest addition to the Tennessee women’s tennis program, head coach Alison Ojeda announced on Thursday afternoon.
“We believe Francesca will win as a Lady Vol, while also embodying high character and work ethic,” Ojeda shared. “We are excited to get to work together.”
The Santa Fe, Argentina, native will join the Lady Vols in January of 2025 with four years of eligibility remaining. She is the first Argentinian to sign with Tennessee since Maia Haumuller in 2018.
“We are very excited to have Francesca join the team and be a Lady Vol,” associate head coach Matias Marin, an Argentina native, said. “She fits our team culture and will make an impact right away in our team. Her experience and work ethic will continue to help us take our program to the next level”
Mattioli comes to Rocky Top following an impressive junior tennis career. She currently holds a 10.41 UTR ranking and achieved her highest ITF junior ranking of No. 313 on June 24, 2024. She also earned a high WTA ranking of No. 1182 on June 10, 2024.
