In the doubles final of the Blue draw, the Gators pairing of Nate Bonetto and Axel Nefve faced fellow Gators pairing of Jonah Braswell and Lukas Greif. It was a tight match, but the lefties Bonetto and Nefve pulled away 8-5. Another Gators’ duo played in the final, as Tanapatt Nirundorn/Togan Tokac played No. 26 ranked Lleyton Cronje/Bogdan Pavel from UCF for the Orange draw championship. In the freshmen pairs’ seventh ranked doubles match of the fall, Cronje/Pavel came out on top 8-4.
Two Gator versus Gator matches took place in the finals of both draws. No. 34 Nefve squared up with Will Grant in a strong match between the two and Nefve came away with a 7-6 (5), 6-3 win to be the Orange champion. No. 91 Bonetto and Braswell also proved to be an excellent showing with Bonetto winning 6-2, 7-6 (4).
Greif and Nirundorn both notched their third singles wins of the tournament in their final matches. Greif continued his tear through his opponents racing past Connor Krug of Duke 6-1, 6-3 for his third straight set win. Nirundorn came out the gate on fire against Miami’s Franco Aubone dealing a 6-3 first set, but Aubone answered with a 6-3 second frame of his own. Nirundorn locked back in for the third set and was able to stave off the Hurricane for a 7-5 final set to win the match.
Overall, Florida finished with 27 wins – seven doubles and 20 singles – as a team at the Gator Fall Invite.
