Hokies wrap up ITA National Fall Championships


SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Members of the Virginia Tech men’s tennis team wrapped up play at the ITA National Fall Championships on Friday night.

Ryan Fishback and Alberto Orso continued their strong form picking up a pair of wins including a hard-fought 77-65, 2-6, 10-7 victory against Mississippi State’s Carles Hernandez and Nemanja Malesevic to advance to the doubles quarterfinals before eventually falling to challengers from TCU. 

Fishback battled in the round of 32 singles but ultimately fell to Ohio State’s JJ Tracy who was ranked eighth in the ITA’s preseason poll.

The Hokies will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 11 in the FGCU Collegiate in Bonita Bay, Fl.
