#5 Wolfpack Tallies Win in Tallahassee Over Seminoles

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Fifth-ranked NC State women’s tennis (11-2, 4-1 ACC) takes down Florida State (7-6, 2-3 ACC) 6-1 Sunday afternoon after winning on all six singles courts. 

Despite dropping the doubles point to the Seminoles, the Wolfpack turned momentum around to dominate singles play. Diana Shnaider and Alana Smith shutout Allen and Motosono 6-0 on court one to get the only doubles win for the team. While Nell Miller and Amelia Rajecki on court two as well as Sophie Abrams and Abigail Rencheli on court three each fell 4-6 in tough matches.

Abrams secured the first singles win on court five in two sets with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 victory to tie the team score 1-1. Following after her, Shnaider walked away triumphant on court one over #70 Arkadianou with a 6-1, 6-4 decision. 

With the Pack in the lead 2-1, Smith handled business on court two after finishing 6-1, 6-3 to extend the lead to three.

Singles play was halted for approximately 30 minutes due to heavy rain in Tallahasse. At that time Rajecki’s score was 4-6, 4-2 on court three, Rencheli’s score on court four was 3-6, 4-4 and Miller was one set away from a win on court six 6-3, 5-3.

Once play resumed over at the indoor center, Miller got the last set to clinch the win at 4-1 for the Wolfpack. Rajecki and Rencheli came back to win their seconds sets to each force a third. Rajeck won 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7) while Rencheli went to a super tie breaker set after winning the second 7-6 (7-3) and the third 1-0 (10-8) to landslide singles play across all six courts.
