TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Mississippi State women’s tennis fell on the road at Alabama 5-2 on Friday afternoon.
The Bulldogs started the afternoon off taking the doubles point as Emmanouela Antonaki and Chloé Cirotte topped No. 58 Anne Marie Hiser and Loudmilla Bencheikh 6-4.
Gia Cohen and Maddie Bemisderfer cliched the doubles point for MSU with a 7-5 victory over Kasia Pitak and Ola Pitak.
Antonaki claimed a singles victory for the Bulldogs, who fell to 10-4 overall and 0-3 in Southeastern Conference play.
Antonaki toon down the Tides’ only ranked singles competitor in No. 96 Loudmilla Bencheikh 7-6(5), 3-6, 1-0 [10-5]. With the win, Antonaki moves to 15-8 overall and 9-3 during dual play and has earned 23 wins in singles against ranked opponents.
MSU’s Maria Rizzolo, ranked 88th nationally, was defeated by Hiser 6-4, 6-1. Alabama’s Anna Parkhomenko beat Cirotte 7-6(5), 6-1 and Cohen lost to Petra Sedlackova 6-2, 6-2.
Alexandra Mikhailuk dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision to Alabama’s Ola Pitak, while Emily Surcey fell to Klara Milicevic 6-4, 6-0.
Alabama moves to 8-4 overall and 1-1 in SEC play.
