ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The No. 3-ranked University of Michigan women’s tennis team took advantage of a four-member Minnesota lineup, shutting out the Golden Gophers 4-0 on Sunday afternoon (March 26) at the Varsity Tennis Center.

U-M needed to win just one doubles match to clinch the first point of the match, with Lily Jones and Julia Fliegner doing the honors at No. 2. The duo raced to a 6-0 win at No. 2, clinching the doubles point in just over 20 minutes for the Maize and Blue. Jaedan Brown and Kari Miller won four straight games to erase a 2-0 deficit, leading 4-2 at No. 1 when the match was abandoned.

With the doubles point in hand, Michigan headed to singles play with a 3-0 lead with Minnesota not filling its lineup at No. 5 and No. 6.

Michigan cruised to first-set wins at all four positions, not allowing Minnesota to gain any traction in the team match.

Cerdan put the deciding point on the board, not dropping a single game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 to push her singles winning streak to five.

The remaining matches were abandoned after Michigan secured the team match.

U-M hits the road next weekend, heading to Illinois to face Northwestern on Saturday (April 1) and the Fighting Illini next Sunday (April 2).
