There are four weeks of tennis left before the standings for this year’s WTA Finals in Cancun are locked – and four spots yet to be claimed.

Here’s a look at how things shape up as the action continues in Tokyo and Ningbo this week.

Tennis Express

Who is already in

No drama for the top four players in the Race to Cancun, as they’ve all secured their spots in the WTA Finals draw.

Aryna Sabalenka, 8210points
Iga Swiatek, 8905 points
Coco Gauff, 5620 points
Elena Rybakina, 5476 points

Who’s next?

As for the final four spots, Jessica Pegula is next in line, with 4405 points. Pegula, who is already into the quarterfinals in Tokyo, could make qualification official this week.

What about the final three spots?

If the season ended today they would belong to:

6. Marketa Vondrousova, 3661
7. Karolina Muchova, 3650
8. Ons Jabeur, 3316

Does anybody else have a shot?

Absolutely!

Ranked ninth is Maria Sakkari, with 3010 points. Next is Madison Keys in tenth with 2737 points, followed by Petra Kvitova in eleventh with 2590 points.

There is still plenty of tennis yet to be played including a 1000-pointer in Beijing next week.
