CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia’s Julia Adams and Natasha Subhash have been named to the 2023 Academic All-District Women’s Tennis Team as selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), the organization announced Tuesday (May 9). The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Subhash reached 20 wins in singles for the third time in her career and earned her third straight invitation to compete in the NCAA Singles Championship. She has reached a top-10 ranking in doubles this season and is an alternate to compete in the NCAA Doubles Championship. She will earn her bachelor’s degree this month from the McIntire School of Commerce before beginning her master’s in accounting. Subhash was twice named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team when tennis was still under the at-large designation of sports. She was a CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-American last season, the only player in program history to ever earn the accolade.
Adams transferred to Virginia to pursue a master’s degree in educational psychology at Virginia after earning her bachelor’s degree in politics and international affairs from Furman last year. Adams made an immediate impact, winning the ITA Atlantic Regional Singles Championship in the fall. She has earned invitations to compete in both the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships for the second straight year. She has reached a No. 7 ranking in doubles this season with a 30-10 record. She has played on the top two singles courts for the Cavaliers this year.
