CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia’s Chris Rodesch, Iñaki Montes and Jeffrey von der Schulenburg have been named to the 2023 Academic All-District Men’s Tennis Team as selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), the organization announced Tuesday (May 9). The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

Rodesch, an All-ACC first-team selection, went 9-1 in singles in conference play and is 15-1 overall playing at the No. 1 singles position in dual matches. Rodesch had four victories against players in the top 10 of the ITA singles rankings and went 10-0 against players in the top-25. He was named the MVP of the 2023 ACC Men’s Tennis Championship and heads into the NCAA Round of 16 on a 10-match win streak in singles. He is currently ranked No. 9 in singles and earned a 9-16 seed in the NCAA Singles Championship.

Montes has a 17-7 record in singles and only dropped one match during conference play, earning second-team All-ACC honors. He was named the ACC Player of the Week after picking up straight-set victories on the top court against Virginia Tech and Boston College and then winning the clinching match at No. 13 Harvard against No. 30 Harris Walker on the last weekend of March. Montes is a 5-8 seed in the NCAA Doubles Championship with an 18-7 record in doubles. He will also be competing in the NCAA Singles Championship.

Von der Schulenburg has been ranked in the top 50 of the ITA singles rankings all season, peaking at No. 25. He has a 23-4 record in dual matches, going 9-2 in conference play. He went 3-0 at No. 3 singles during the ACC Championship, picking up all three victories in straight sets, and went 2-0 last weekend in the first two rounds of the NCAA Championship, including winning the clinching match against Ole Miss. He is a three-time All-ACC honoree.
