LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The USC women’s tennis wrapped up the regular season on a high note, defeating Hawaii 4-1 on Saturday, April 22 at Marks Stadium. With the win, the Women of Troy enter postseason play with a 16-8 record (6-4 conference).
After nearly an hour of doubles action, the Trojans claimed the early point following wins on courts one and three. Hawaii’s duo of Vilcek/Homolkova defeated USC’s Nathalie Rodilosso and Grace Piper 6-0 to give the Rainbow Wahine an early lead. In response, the Trojans won back-to-back matches, as Snow Han and Isabelle Lee and Maddy Sieg and Naomi Cheong emerged victorious to claim the doubles point.
Freshman No. 8 Maddy Sieg got back to her winning ways today, defeating Ana Vilcek 6-2, 6-1 on center court. Hawaii’s lone point of the day came on court five as Rita Pinto beat Isabelle Lee 6-3, 6-2. USC answered with two straight points to finish the match as Nathalie Rodilosso and McKenna Koenig defeated their Hawaii opponents. Koenig clinched the match on court two, beating Nikola Homolkova 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.
The Trojans turn their attention now to the upcoming Pac-12 tournament which will begin Wednesday, April 26 in Ojai.
