LOS ANGELES – USC women’s tennis is set to welcome some of the best tennis players in the west to Marks Stadium this weekend as the Trojans host the four-day ITA Sectional Championships. The event begins on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 9 a.m. and runs through Sunday, Nov. 10.
The ITA Sectional Championships will be the last chance for some of the top players from across the country to qualify for the 2024 NCAA Individual Championships.
The 2024 ITA Sectional Championships will have a draw size of the following, (Singles: 32) (Doubles: 16). From this, six singles players from each section (24) will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (semifinalists, two quarterfinal playoff winners). Meanwhile, three doubles teams from each section (12) will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship through the Sectional Championships (champion, finalist, third place).
Eight Trojans will be in action this weekend, with USC looking to qualify
Five Trojans will compete in the singles main draw – Maia Sung, Emma Charney, Grace Piper, Immi Haddad and Jana Hossam. USC will also see three pairs compete in the event – Immi Haddad and Emma Charney, Sloane Morra and Anya Murthy and Maia Sung and Parker Fry.
The Trojan pair of Lily Fairclough and Grace Piper qualified for the NCAA Doubles Championships at the fall All-American Championships. The remaining USC duo’s look to join Fairclough and Piper in Waco in just a few weeks.
