LOS ANGELES– USC men’s tennis (5-6) faces No. 41 Stanford (6-4) in their first Pac-12 conference dual of the season at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 10 at the Taube Family Tennis Center in Stanford, Calif..
RANKINGS
The Trojans enter this weekend as the No. 32nd ranked team in the country (ITA Rankings, Mar. 05). USC currently hosts two-ranked individuals (Mar. 05). Junior Peter Makk is the highest-ranking individual, ranked #50. Sitting behind him is #102 senior Lodewijk Weststrate.
USC has one ranked doubles squad with the combination of graduate student Stefan Dostanic and sophomore Oscar Weightman at #65. The brand-new duo featuring the latest member to the Trojans roster is 2-0 overall, as they have yet to drop a match as a pair in duals. The doubles squad already has one quality win: they took down #15 Sharma/Klaassen 6-4.
LAST TIME UP
The Trojans fell to the Waves at home on Friday 08 Mar. after having to stop play on Thursday 07 Mar. due to weather conditions.
Doubles team Volodomyr Iakubenko and Karl Lee knocked down Pepperdine’s P. Fellin and E. Winter. Peter Makk and Lodewijk Westrate were just edged out by Pepperdine’s M. Homberg and C. Papa, for Pepperdine to claim the doubles point. Karl Lee secured a point for USC in his singles match up against Chris Papa. USC moves to 28-29 in singles on the season.
SCOUTING Stanford
The Cardinal comes into the matchup ranked No. 41 (ITA Rankings, Mar. 05), as they are 6-4 in the early portion of the season. Stanford has one ranked individual: #81 Neel Rajesh. The Cardinal does not currently have a ranked doubles team.
