Tennessee Tennis Signs Transfer Younes Lalami for Spring 2024


KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Younes Lalami has signed with the Tennessee men’s tennis team and will join the Vols for the 2024 spring dual match season, head coach Chris Woodruff announced Friday.
 
Lalami, a graduate transfer from Old Dominion, holds a career-high ITA singles ranking of No. 91 (11/16/22) and doubles rankings of No. 36 (2/8/23). He earned Conference USA Freshman of the Year accolades in 2021 and played at the No. 1 spot in singles and doubles for the Monarchs in 2023.

With a UTR of 12.75, Lalami is a two-time $15k doubles pro event champion, and has reached two semifinals of $15k level singles. He boasts a career-high 915ATP singles and 849ATP doubles ranking, and secured two victories over top-500ATP opponents in 2023, defeating Miguel Damas (419ATP) and Gianmarco Ferrari (486ATP).

Younes is a high energy guy with an explosive game. We look forward to establishing a relationship on and off the court for his last semester of college tennis and in the future.”

 

The Moroccan native represented his home country at the Davis Cup in 2022 and 2023, competing against Algeria, Ivory Coast and India.
