SUN DEVIL NOTABLES

  • The Sun Devils are listed at No. 23 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Top 25 rankings, marking the fourth consecutive week they’ve held a national ranking.
  • The Sun Devils are recently removed from competing at the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Alabama in a field comprised of No. 15 Auburn, No. 23 UCF and UCSB. The Sun Devils were bested by the No. 23 Knights in the opening round, 4-2, before defeating the Gauchos, 5-0, the following afternoon.
  • Giulia Morlet and Sedona Gallagher have been rock-solid for the Sun Devils on doubles Court 2 this spring, as they’re a team-high 5-0 to begin the season. Pair that with the Court 1 tandem of Domenika Turkovic and Patricija Spaka, the country’s No. 9 ranked pair, and the Sun Devils are a force to be reckoned with in doubles.
  • Freshman Chelsea Fontenel has quickly burst onto the scene and has settled into singles Court 3. She’s tied with Marianna Argyrokastriti for most wins so far this season (6).
  • Four Sun Devils have earned individual national rankings in the ITA’s preseason polls –  Giulia Morlet (No. 69), Domenika Turkovic (No. 74), Marianna Argyrokastriti (No. 84) and Sedona Gallagher (No. 95).

The Sun Devils were slated to host SMU on Friday, February 3 (11 a.m. MST), but weather conditions in the Dallas area prevented the Mustangs from traveling to Tempe.
