Split in San Diego Ends Fall Season


SAN DIEGO – The fall tennis season came to a close on Thursday in San Diego at Barnes Tennis Center. Samir Banerjee reached the round of 16 in the tournament, going 1-1 at the event to cap a six-win spring for the sophomore.

Banerjee, who is ranked 29th in the country, qualified for the ITA Fall National Championships with a title-match appearance at the ITA Northwest Super Regionals, and he breezed past his opening round opponent, Wake Forest’s Dhakshineswar Suresh, 6-4, 6-4.

The tournament came to a close for the Basking Ridge, New Jersey native in the round of 16, 6-4, 6-0, to TCU’s No. 82 Pedro Vives.

Stanford’s fall collegiate season concluded with the tournament. The spring tennis season will begin in January, with the full schedule yet to be announced.
