Virginia Men's Tennis | Virginia Hosts South Carolina Friday in Super Regional

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  The Virginia men’s tennis team (24-5) hosts South Carolina (19-14) in the Round of 16 of the 2024 NCAA Men’s Tennis Team Championship on Friday, May 10 at 4 p.m. at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort.

Admission is free for the matches.

The matches are scheduled to be played outdoors. Please monitor Virginia’s social media accounts for any weather-related changes.

MATCH INFORMATION

  • The matches will be covered in the Cracked Racquets Cross Court Cast on their YouTube Channel
  • Individual court streams will also be available on VirginiaSports.com
  • Live scoring will be available for all of the matches
  • The winner of the Charlottesville Super Regional will advance to the finals site, the Oklahoma State’s Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla., where they will face the winner of the Winston-Salem Super Regional (Wake Forest, Stanford) in a quarterfinal match on Thursday, May 16
  • Semifinals matches will be Saturday, May 18 and the championship on Sunday, May 19

MATCH NOTES

  • Virginia is ranked No. 2 in the latest ITA team rankings, but are the 3-seed in the championship
  • South Carolina is unseeded, but is ranked No. 16 in the ITA rankings. They topped No. 14 NC State 4-3 in Raleigh last Saturday to advance
  • Senior Alex Kiefer enters the tournament on a 14-match win streak in singles. He has a 23-10 record overall and is 11-3 at No. 5
  • Dylan Dietrich brings an 8-match win streak in singles into the tournament with a 20-5 record. He is 7-1 this season at the No. 3 singles court. He earned a place in the NCAA Singles draw
  • Senior Jeffrey von der Schulenburg leads the team in singles victories with a 25-14 record. He tied for the team lead in victories last season with 31
  • von der Schulenburg is the first alternate in the NCAA Singles Championship, looking to make his fourth appearance in the tournament. Should a player withdraw and he moves into the draw, he will be the only player on the team to have made four appearances in the NCAA singles tournament
  • Chris Rodesch is the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Singles Championship with a 22-4 record. It is his second straight year being a seeded player in the draw after being a 9-16 seed last season. He is ranked No. 3 in the latest ITA Singles rankings
  • Senior Iñaki Montes has earned invitations to both the NCAA Singles and Doubles tournaments. Montes, who was named to the All-ACC First Team for the second time in his career, has 10 wins against ranked…
