EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State women’s tennis continued play at the Michigan State Classic presented by Auto-Owners Insurance at the MSU Indoor Tennis Center.
Junior Issey Purser, junior Matilde Morais, freshman Amara Brahmbhatt and redshirt sophomore Natalie Stasney were in action in doubles and singles play in the middle day of action in the three-day tourney, with Purser and Brahmbhatt collecting Victories for MSU.
Purser had a quick 6-3 and 6-4 win against Jennifer Riester from Northwestern. Brahmbhatt dominated her match against Katya Shepard Johnson from Northwestern and came out on top, 6-3, 6-4.
Morais fought hard in her pairing against Ryle Hanford from Notre Dame, but lost the match 4-6, 7-6(1), and 3-6.
Stasny battled hard through her match against Ester Vyrlan from Notre Dame, but dropped the match 5-7, 6-3, 2-6.
The doubles pairs of Morais/Purser and Brahmbhatt/Stasney both finished the day with losses.
Morais/Purser faced off against Sartz-Lunde/Bernales from Michigan and Pendergast/Flowers from Xavier. Brahmbhatt/Stasny battled against Sheinin/Bruno from Michigan.
MSU wraps up the Michigan State Classic play on Sunday, starting with doubles action at 10 a.m. before the final singles matches at 11 a.m. Admission at the Indoor Tennis Center is free for fans, or they can follow the Tournament Central for results, updated schedule links and to watch live.
