TALLAHASSEE – Florida State sophomores Joshua Dous-Karpenschif and Maks Silagy, who earned Florida State the doubles point against UCF, ACC Doubles Pair of the Week it was announced Tuesday.
Silagy and Karpenschif who were playing at No. 1 doubles for the first time this season, defeated the No. 48-ranked doubles pair, Lleyton Cronje and Bogdan Pavel of UCF. The match was tied 3-3 before Silagy and Karpenschif won three straight games to hand UCF’s doubles pair its first loss of the season.
The pair’s 6-3 win on court No. 1 clinched the doubles point for Florida State. The Seminoles went on to defeat UCF by a 6-1 margin.
Dous-Karpenschif earned his second win of the weekend after he clinched the match for Florida State with a 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 come-from-behind win on court No. 5, which gave FSU a 4-1 lead.
Dous-Karpenschif, Silagy and the Seminoles are back in action Friday with the beginning of ACC play. FSU travels to play No. 65 Virginia Tech at Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center at 3 p.m. and then faces No. 21 Virginia on Sunday at 1 p.m.
