Florida State’s Millie Bissett Named ACC Co-Freshman Of The Week

TALLAHASSEE – Florida State freshman Millie Bissett, who earned four total wins over the past weekend, has been named ACC co-Freshman of the Week by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Bissett defeated Ines Fonte of Syracuse 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6 singles on Friday. The Bath, England, native then earned a 6-1, 6-3 win over Stephanie Sanchez of Boston College at No. 5 on Sunday.

Bissett and junior Anna Arkadianou beat Fonte and Viktor Kanapatskaya of Syracuse 6-3 and Hailey Wilcox and Seren Agar of Boston College 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

Her two wins against Boston College helped Florida State secure a 5-2 team victory and improve the team record to 6-4 with an ACC record of 1-1.

Bissett has a 9-2 overall record in her freshman season. She and the rest of the Seminoles return home to host Miami on Sunday at 12 p.m. Admission to all matches at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center is free.
