With three weeks to go until this year’s ATP Finals at Turin, four spots remain up for grabs in the race.
That race will heat up at the ATP 500 event in Vienna, where Andrey Rublev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev look to lock down their spots as the No.5, No.6 and No.7 players in the race as of Sunday.
A star-studded draw is headlined by defending champion Daniil Medvedev, who will face talented Frenchman in the first round. The No.2 seed, Italy’s Jannik Sinner, also has a tough road ahead. He’ll face last week’s Tokyo title winner Ben Shelton.
Medvedev, who owns 20 ATP title, has never won the same title twice. The 27-year-old World No.3, who defeated Denis Shapovalov in the final last year, hopes to change that statistical aberration this week.
Medvedev and Sinner are already secure in their Turin qualifications, so the pressure will be on the others.
Rublev, seeded third, will face Alexei Popyrin in the first round and could face No.5-seeded Alexander Zverev in a critical showdown in the quarterfinals.
Tsitsipas, seeded fourth, faces wild card Dominic Thiem in his opener. He could face Tommy Paul in the quarterfinals.
