No. 73 Men’s Tennis Drops Match to No. 45 Nebraska


UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men’s tennis team (13-6, 0-3 B1G) fell to the Nebraska Cornhuskers (10-7, 1-3 B1G) in a 5-1 contest on Sunday afternoon in the Penn State Indoor Tennis Center. 

DOUBLES 

Nebraska earned the doubles point with wins on courts one and three.  

Sam Bossem and Loren Byers fell to William Gleason and Leo Linquet 6-2, before Miko Eala and Stefan Simeunovic were defeated by Roni Hietaranta and Shunya Maruyama in a 6-4 contest. 

Malik Bhatnagar and Charl Morgan went 5-5, unfinished across from Calvin Mueller and Lars Johan on court two.  

SINGLES 

The Cornhuskers earned victories on three straight courts to clinch the match.   

Eala fell to Maruyama on court three in a 6-4, 6-2 decision, before Bossem lost to Lar Johnson, 6-4, 7-5 on court four. Nebraska secured the match on court two as Byers dropped a hard-fought three-set 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 match to Leo Linquet.  

 On No. 1, Morgan earned his 30th career singles win as he downed Hietaranta, 6-3, 7-6(6), 6-4. Finsihing out the match, Nemani fell to Mueller 6-0, 6-3 and Simeunovic went unfinished on court five.
