SEATTLE – The 45th-ranked Dawgs get back on the courts this Friday, hosting Portland to keep the racquets sharp before finals week and Spring Break. Friday’s 4 p.m. match at the Nordstrom Tennis Center is one of just three on UW’s schedule in the month of March.

The Huskies (7-4) reached a season-high No. 45 in the latest ITA national rankings this week. The Dawgs lost their last match two weeks ago to No. 3 Michigan but were competitive across the board, getting two singles wins from Cesar Bouchelaghem and Brett Pearson.

Bouchelaghem, who is now 11-0 in singles play this dual season, earned his first career ranking this week at No. 85, while he and Dzianis Zharyn, Washington’s No. 1 doubles duo, earned their first ranking as well at No. 44.

The Pilots have a 5-5 record coming off a road trip to Albuquerque where Portland lost a 4-2 match to No. 68 New Mexico and a 4-2 match against Rice. Portland has faced one Pac-12 opponent, falling 6-1 to UCLA. Portland’s top singles player, Sema Pankin, is ranked No. 86 nationally. This is the first meeting between the teams since 2021, a 6-1 Husky win in Seattle.
