UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women’s tennis team (6-5, 0-1) will host a doubleheader on Sunday, Feb. 26 versus JMU (3-3) at 10 a.m. and Duquesne (4-2) at 4 p.m. E.T.
“The matches this weekend are another two great opportunities for us here at home to improve mentally and physically and to reestablish our goals after having two tough losses on the road,” said head coach Alex Anghelescu. “Both teams will push us in different ways, and we need to be ready to adapt.”

PENN STATE IN THE RANKINGS
In the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings released on Feb. 21, the Penn State women’s tennis team came out in the top 50. The Blue and White are placed at No. 43 in the rankings.
Sofiya Chekhlystova also moved up in the rankings for singles play. She is now No. 42, which is eight spots higher than she was last week.
EXAMINING JAMES MADISON
The James Madison women’s tennis team is 3-3 on the season. Their most recent match resulted in a 4-3 loss against Xavier, who the Nittany Lions defeated earlier in the season, 5-2.
Penn State defeated the Dukes, 5-2, during the last match up of the teams on Feb. 5, 2022.
STUDYING DUQUESNE
The Duquesne women’s tennis team is 4-2 so far this season. The Dukes’ last match was a 7-0 victory against Mercyhurst.
The last time that Penn State and Duquesne faced off in women’s tennis was in spring of 1983. This will mark the second meeting of the teams ever.
