MADISON, Wis. – The No. 21 Wisconsin women’s tennis team (19-6) begins its NCAA Tournament on Friday, May 5 against No. 34 LSU. First serve is set for 11 a.m. (CT) in Ames, Iowa.
Here are five things to know:
1. KNOW THE OPPONENT: LSU is currently ranked No. 43 in the country and has an overall record of 13-10 on the season. The Tigers are coming off a 4-0 loss to Georgia in the SEC Tournament Quarterfinals.
LSU has two ranked singles players in No. 10 Anastasiya Komar and No. 39 Kylie Collins. The team also has three ranked doubles teams in No. 6 Kylie Collins and Anastasiya Komar, No. 59 Nikita Vishwase and Anastasiya Komar, and No. 80 Safiya Carrington and Anastasiya Komar.
2. LOOKING BACK: Wisconsin has only played Louisiana State one time in program history. That match was played back in 1980 and saw Wisconsin win 6-3.
3. NCAA Tournament History: The Badgers are back in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019. It is the ninth time overall that the program has qualified for the NCAA Championship. The best result the program has seen was back in 1997 when the Badgers won their first three matches and made it to the Round of 16.

5. UP NEXT: If the Badgers win again LSU, they will play the winner of the Drake and Iowa State match. The second round match would be played on Saturday, May 6 at 1 p.m. (CT).
