OMAHA, Neb.– The Nittany Lions (6-7) fall on the road to No. 55 Nebraska (8-4) on Friday afternoon, 5-2.
“It was a tough loss today. We were very close in both doubles and singles. Everyone did their best on and off the court,” said Sofiya Chekhlystova. “We are taking it as a learning opportunity and going to show Iowa who the Nittany Lions really are.”
DOUBLES
The Cornhusker’s earned the doubles point to edge an early lead over Penn State.
Duo Olivia Ryan and Yvonne Zuffova defeated Chloe Kuckelman and Isabel A. Gallego on court two to tie doubles play. However, the point was decided after a close battle on court one with a Nebraska win over Karly Friedland and Gabby O’Gorman, 5-7.
SINGLES
Yvonne Zuffova earned a victory over Isabel A. Gallego on court two to capture Penn State’s first point of the match, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. Gabby O’Gorman defeated Chloe Kuckelmen, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 on court three.
Nebraska secured the match earning wins on courts one, four, five and six.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Iowa City to face Iowa on Sunday afternoon at noon.
