RALEIGH The NC State men’s tennis team is off to its best start in ACC play in the Kyle Spencer era.
The Wolfpack won its third straight conference game on Friday, knocking off Miami, 4-2. Up next is another big challenge from the Sunshine State, No. 23 Florida State.
NC State is 0-3 nationally ranked teams this season, but are playing at a high level heading into Sunday’s match. Momentum is on NC State’s side, having won five straight matches.

“I think we had a little bit of a slow start,” Spencer said. “I think we are hitting our stride, we’re playing good tennis, guys are competing super hard, they are training with a passion, so I think the sky’s the limit for this group.”
NC State has won three of the last four matches against FSU.
Last time out: NC State improved to 9-4 overall and 3-0 in the ACC with a 4-2 home win over the Miami Hurricanes on Friday.
Pack in the Rankings: Four members of the NC State tennis team are ranked in the latest ITA poll. Rafa Izquierdo Luque is ranked No. 77 in the singles poll. Luque is also ranked in the doubles at No. 29 with partner Joe Wayand. Robin Catry and Luca Staeheli are ranked No. 55.
Scouting the Seminoles: FSU is ranked No. 15 in the nation. The Noles have a top five player in Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc, ranked No. 4 in the ITA rankings. Florida State (9-4) is coming off a 4-2 win over No. 14 Wake Forest.
