Men's Tennis Hosts Two Doubleheaders this Weekend


UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men’s tennis team is prepped to host two doubleheaders back-to-back this weekend. The Nittany Lions will host Delaware and Lehigh on Saturday, Feb. 3. The next day on Sunday, Feb 4, the Blue and White will face Georgetown and Mount. St. Mary’s. On both days, the first matches will begin at 10 a.m. and the second matches will begin at 3 p.m. All four matches will be played at the Indoor Tennis Center. 

Penn State is 2-1 entering the weekend. Last weekend, the Nittany Lions fell 4-3 against Toledo on Friday but bounced back for a 4-3 win over Temple on Sunday.

Senior Miko Eala is 3-0 in singles this Spring, playing at the No. 1 or No. 2 singles positions.

SCOUTING DELAWARE 

The Delaware Blue Hens will enter Happy Valley with a 1-0 record. In previous meetings, Penn State has a 6-0 record over Delaware. Their last matchup, in 2023, resulted in a 6-1 victory for the Nittany Lions. 

PREVIEWING LEHIGH 

The Mountain Hawks will make their season debut this Saturday at Penn State. In past matchups, Lehigh is 0-9 against Penn State, with the teams last meeting in 2017. 

LOOKING AT GEORGETOWN 

The Hoyas started off their season with a 1-2 record. Georgetown and Penn State have only ever faced each other once in a dual match. Last season, the Nittany Lions won 6-1. 

EYEING MOUNT. ST. MARY’S 

The Mountaineers hold a 2-2 record. Penn State and Mount St. Mary’s have played each other consecutively for three years, with Penn State holding a 3-0 record over them. 

UP NEXT 

Following the four-match weekend, the squad will hit the road for the first time this spring season. Penn State will face St. John’s at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10 in Queens, N.Y. The following day on Sunday, Feb. 11, The Nittany Lions will compete against Columbia in New York, N.Y at 1 p.m.
