MALIBU, Calif. – Stanford men’s tennis completed its final fall tournament before the NCAA singles and doubles championship, with three players competing on Pepperdine’s campus. Henry von der Schulenburg advanced to the round of 16, while Max Basing and Nico Godsick fell in the round of 32.

The final opportunity to qualify for the NCAA singles championship, the three Cardinal players came up just short of receiving the automatic bids. Von der Schulenburg, seeded second in the tournament, opened with a straight sets win over UC Santa Barbara’s Dominique Rolland, 6-2, 7-6 (2), but dropped his bout in the second round on Friday.

Max Basing, the tournament’s top seed, was upset in the opening round while Nico Godsick also suffered a defeat. Both players finish the fall with 3-3 records, while von der Schulenburg tallied a 4-2 mark.

Stanford will be represented in the NCAA Singles Championship by Samir Banerjee and in the Doubles Championship by Banerjee and Godsick. The action begins on Nov. 19 in Waco, Texas.
