ATLANTA, Ga. – Ole Miss men’s tennis wrapped up their 2022 fall season on Sunday with the final day of the Georgia Tech Invitational being played at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex in Atlanta.
Sunday’s finale saw the Rebels split their matches on the day, going 2-2 in singles and 1-1 in doubles to finish the tournament with a weekend record of 5-7 in singles and 3-3 in doubles play.
Leading the way for the Rebels on the weekend were Nikola Slavic and Lukas Engelhardt, as the doubles pairing finished off their weekend a perfect 3-0 following an 8-3 victory over Vanderbilt’s Casabon and Troost on Sunday.
Slavic also went on to capture a 6-1, 6-2 singles win against Georgia’s Teodor Giusca, ending his weekend with a 2-1 singles record.
The other Ole Miss duo of Gordon Whitwell and Walker Stearns weren’t able to win their respective doubles matchup, but the freshman Whitwell bounced back in singles play to take a three-set victory over Vanderbilt’s Paul Wang (6-2, 4-6, 6-4) to finish his time in Atlanta 2-1 in singles.
Engelhardt and Stearns would both drop their singles matchups to close out the Rebels’ day, putting an end to the team’s fall tournament schedule in the process.
The Rebels now await the start of their 2023 spring dual season, with an official opening match date to be announced at a later date.
