Koenig Falls In All-American Pre-Qualifying


CARY, N.C. — Washington women’s tennis players McKenna Koenig and Erika Matsuda both played their second matches in as many days today at the ITA All-American Championships, the first tournament of the year for the Dawgs. Koenig and Matsuda both fell short in the prequaliying rounds today.

Koenig was in the second round of pre-qualifying after getting a win on Saturday. But today she dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision to Leonie Moeller of Memphis to end her run.

Matsuda was competing in the consolation draw, but dropped a 6-3, 6-3 match to Misa Malkin of South Carolina.

With the Qualifying draw starting on Monday, new Dawg Reece Carter will make her Husky debut at 8:30 a.m. Pacific against Jeanette Mireles.
