Johnson, Nirundorn Victorious as Gator Fall Invite Opens


Florida’s opening day of the home weekend got underway on Friday.

JanMagnus Johnson and Tanapatt Nirundorn picked up victories for Florida men’s tennis on Friday as the Gator Fall Invite got underway at Linder Stadium at Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.
 
Johnson earned a dominant straight sets victory against Miami’s Vladislav Melnic, 6-1, 6-2, picking up his team-leading ninth singles win of the Fall season.
 
By contrast, Nirundorn battled to a three-set result against Nacho Serra Sanchez, gutting out a closely-contested 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 victory.
 
Florida returns to action at 11 a.m. on Saturday for the second of three days of action. Florida and Clemson will be paired up in Saturday’s round-robin action.
