Jackson, Morra Impress Saturday at Fall Ranked Spotlight


CARY, N.C. – On Saturday at the Fall Ranked Spotlight, the Duke duo of Emma Jackson and Cameron Morra impressed by winning three matches against ranked opponents at the Cary Tennis Park.

Jackson, who hails from La Grange Park, Ill., turned in a victory over No. 3 ranked Daria Frayman of Princeton, 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 to kick off the morning.  The win was the first over a top-10 ranked opponent in her short Blue Devil career.  

A native of Rockville, Md., Morra collected a 6-1, 6-3 win over 66th-ranked Isabella Pfennig of Miami, before totaling a 6-4, 7-5 victory over 19th-ranked Alexa Noel of Miami.  Morra will face 91st-ranked Carolyn Ansari of Auburn on Sunday.  

Freshman Katie Codd closed the day with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Rachel Hanford of Arizona State, after dropping a 6-4, 6-1 decision to Lucia Marzal of Ohio State in the morning.  Codd will take on Lauren Anzalotta of Tennessee on Sunday.

On Sunday, Duke’s doubles tandem of Brianna Shvets and Codd will take on East Tennessee State’s Laylo Bakhodirova and Fernanda Carvajal at 9 a.m.
